....the long figure eight wrap below bastes the horizontal Right Hackle loosely and temporarily in place. A subsequent dab of glue fixes the hackle permanently. Fabric cement, UV or CA glue all work well.

For dry flies the horizontal right hackle itself can be Snow Shoe Rabbit, Zelon or Carpet scraps. For wet flies it can be anything.
