This is is my latest (unfinished) work. I like this boat a lot. It's a wide-bottomed boat with an extra-wide tail, low-rocker and laminated, ledge-topped gunwale. The ledge-top gunwale makes the boat stiff.
Stitch and glue boats (because they don't have ribs) often rely on a side-to-side rower's seat assembly to stiffen up the boat. This boat has that kind of a rower's seat, but it doesn't need it. The ledge-top gunwale makes a stiff hull no matter what.
The outrigger oarlocks make it possible to row with 10' oars. This boat trims well with a rear-seated passenger and it is amazingly easy to slow down, and to hold in the current. I won't finish this boat until my new boat shop is finished.
The padded tractor seat sitting on a simple square box is not meant to be the finish rower's seat. That was just a quick rower's seat hack, to put the boat on the water for testing.
I plan to put a fancy, sliding rowing scull seat there, with raised foot pegs on front of the rower, so I can row off my legs, in addition to my massive arms.
